Standard 2

Standard 2: Skill and Fitness Based Competence

Physical education teacher candidates are physically educated individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to demonstrate competent movement performance and health enhancing fitness delineated in the NASPE K-12 Standards.

Artifact: PED 182 Fitness Plan Cardiovascular & Flexibility

2.2: Achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of fitness throughout the program.

In my PED 182 class I was asked to create a fitness plan in which I was to increase my cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and muscular strength. Before creating this plan I took a series of various fitness tests to see where I stood at the current time. After seeing these results I created a goal and set myself a plan in order to accomplish the various goals. These results shows that I am capable of assessing where someone such as a student is physically and creating a plan based on that information. Maintaining a health lifestyle is important for a physical educator because we are trying to teach students to be healthy we need to set a positive example for them.
